The small and pretty village of
Savonnières in the "Loire Valley" along the "Loire à vélo"
welcomed an attraction for tourists! A shop with second hand products, souvenirs, and wine is open. Do not hesitate to
have a look there and visit the old mill of Savonnières ! You can also rest in our pretty
guest-rooms. You are welcome ! |

Willkommen in "Le Grenier du Moulin" ! In Savonnières, einem
kleinen hübschen Dorf im Loiretal an dem "Loire à vélo"-Weg,
ist ein kleiner Laden mit Antiquitäten, Wein und sonstigen Souvenirs zu
finden. Besichtigung der Wassermühle in deutscher Sprache ist bereits
möglich. Hier sind auch zwei
Gastzimmer mit Frühstück angeboten. |

Savonnières is a beautiful village, and has won the coveted
“Verte” classification. Moulin des Fontaines offers a relaxing holiday in one of
the three most popular tourist regions in France. It is also a convenient base
for traveling further afield, to destinations such as Normandy, Brittany,
Bordeaux and Paris. Le Grenier du Moulin will make your stay in France memorable
and pleasurable.

History : The mill probably dates back to the Gallo-Roman period, and
the present building to the 13th or 14th century in its lower part, which is
flanked by large buttresses. The mill continued to produce until 1949. Its wheel
(the only major component no longer existing) measured 23 ft across. The gears
and millstones are still in place. In addition, the building houses an
exhibition on mills. The large and picturesque mill pond continues to form part
of the property.

We offer a guided tour of the mill to guests who want it.
Please do not hesitate to ask for anything which may enhance
your stay with us. For example, we can provide or arrange transfers from the
railway station or airport, home made dinner, visits to chateaux and wine tastings, bicycle hire, French lessons, cooking classes ... and much more! Note
that we speak English, but will not impose it on guests who prefer our native
French...

The Grenier du Moulin is located in Savonnières, at 10 rue du
Paradis, 100m from the Main Street, and 150m from the river, and the bicycle
route « La Loire à vélo ».
Autoroute A85 6km (exit 8 or 9)
High speed train station (St-Pierre-des-Corps) 15 km (56 minutes from Paris by
TGV and 1h45 from Roissy CDG airport)
Savonnières is 235km SW of PARIS, and 14km from TOURS
